About

Trained as an ethnomusicologist (PhD, Univerisity of London, School of Oriental and African Studies, 2002) Bob Young Walser is a freelance gadfly, musician and educator based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. For more on his music visit BobWalser.com.

Concerns about instability in the economy, climate change and energy uncertainty draw me to people concerned about these inter-related issues. Folks like Chris Martinson creator of the Crash Course; Rob Hopkins, the instigator of the Transition Towns phenomenon; Charles Hugh Smith, Sharon Astyk and others as well as agricultural thinkers like Wendell Barry and Aldo Leopold. I can occasionally be found with Twin Cities Transition Town folks – especially at social gatherings involving coffee and/or beer.

For what it’s worth, I also play the button accordion and dance with Ramsey’s Braggars Morris Men who, among other accomplishments, have danced for the Mayor of Minneapolis.
